Author: Wendy Mass Book Color: Purple
Book Genre: Realistic Fiction Summary: At the Moon Shadow camp ground, three friends are brought together to watch an extraordinary event: a total solar eclipse happening right at their campsite! Ally, who is home-schooled and unsure of the outside world, has lived at the Moon Shadow all of her life. She works there with her parents, who knew that one day the eclipse would bring thousands to the campground. She has been preparing for this moment all of her life, but she never thought that she would have to move after the eclipse is over. Bree is the most popular and pretty girl at her school. But when she finds out that her family is moving to a campground, she is really upset. That's right, Bree is moving to the Moon Shadow campground, where her parents will take over it after the eclipse ends. Jack loves to draw art and read, but when he fails a science class, he has to go to summer school to make it up. When an opportunity to watch a total solar eclipse comes up, he takes it. However, he isn't prepared for the craziest adventure of his life once he is there. Together, these three unlikely friends bond together to watch an event that will change their perspective on space forever. Personal Review: I loved this book so much, I read it in less than a day. Seriously, LESS THAN A DAY. You know a book is good if you read all it in a few hours. Ally, Bree, and Jack all lead interesting lives. Plus, the author writes using alternate perspectives each chapter. The first chapter is from Ally's perspective, the second is from Bree's, the third is from Jack's, the fourth is from Ally's, and so on down the line. Recommendation: I would recommend this book for people who like realistic fiction, who like space, who like alternating viewpoints, and who like some sad, some happy, and some mixed-feeling parts. There are lots of those in there, too. Click here to buy this amazing book!
