Book Genre: Fantasy Summary: It's junior year at Aventura High, and Autumn Falls never imagined it to be so flirty. Breakups, new dates, and lots of drama. And she suspects that Sean is not only hooking up to her, but to Reenzie as well. And soon, her magical diary, the one that granted wishes, has stopped working. Autumn wonders how she'll get through high school now...until finds another item hidden in the notebook: a magical map that takes her to anyplace she wishes. She thinks it's great...at first. Then when she starts going to places she knows she shouldn't go, and starts seeing things she shouldn't be seeing, she wonders if what she's done has caused her whole world to fall apart. Personal Review: I liked the book a lot. Really. This was another funny, romantic, and magical book. This book also involves her meeting Kyler Leeds a lot (for those of you who never read the first book, Kyler is a pop star that Autumn loves), and this book has lots of breakups, so be prepared! Recommendation: I recommend this book for people who like magic, who like romance, and who loved the first book (there is another book in the Autumn Falls series...so just be ready!), and who wanted to find out more about what happened to Autumn since the first book. Book Genre: Fantasy Summary: After their parents (who were famous explorers) died in an archaeological accident, the siblings Jake and Kady Ransom now live with their Aunt Matilda and Uncle Edward. But when they receive a letter that invites them to a museum in London that will feature some of their parent's findings that have remained unknown for some time, they decide to go. On the day they arrive at the museum, they end up finding themselves into the land of Calypsos, a land where different cultures unite as one. They speak All-World, use powerful and magical crystals for power and protection, and use a science called alchemy. But soon the Skull King, a powerful wizard that uses dark shadow magic, threatens to destroy Calypsos. And it doesn't take long for Jake to figure out that what the Skull King really wants is not Calypsos: it's he and Kady. And with the help of his new friends, Jake must use knowledge from both worlds in order to try to bring the Skull King to a defeat. Personal Review: It liked the book a whole lot. It reminded me of the Kane Chronicles, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard all rolled into one, plus some Mayan culture. This was a great fit for me, as I love to learn about culture, and the bonus for me was that is had magic in it. Score! Recommendation: I recommend this book for people who like fantasy books, who like books with magic, for people who like to learn about culture, or for people who don't mind a few scary, dark parts in their books. Like I said, the Skull King is a shadow king, so he uses powerful, dark shadow magic that can have the book seem dark at times. Want to buy this book? Click here. Book Genre: Mythology (Greek) Recommended By: Angie Weigers Summary: Helen is your average Spartan princess. She has the beautiful looks, and she loves Aphrodite. But she wants more out of life than just being a princess in a castle. So when her sister begs with her to travel with her to a land far from Sparta, she takes this as an opportunity to explore the world and get her heart's true desire. And as she goes deeper into her adventure, she decides to take a journey that could be risky and lethal. But with her Spartan skills, bold heart, and, yes, her queenly title, anything is possible for this brave Spartan princess, today now known as Helen of Troy. Personal Review: I simply devoured this book, being the big Greek mythology fan I am (if you saw my previous books, you know that me loving Percy Jackson is an understatement). This book not only tells history, but it is also an excellent novel for mythology fans and a great book for Greek learners. Recommendation: I recommend this book for Greek beginners, Greek experts, for people who like to read history books (unless someone tells you, you might think this was fictional!), or for people who would like to learn more about Helen of Troy.
