Author: Robin Brande Book Color: Purple.
Book Genre: Realistic Fiction. Recommended by: Melissa Corey Summary: Catherine "Cat" Locke is a smart science wiz who isn't the slimmest of girls in her high school. And while she sometimes has eating problems, she is too caught up in the other stuff in her life to care much about her weight. She spends her time on science fairs, schoolwork, and getting revenge on her number one-enemy Matt McKinney, who is also a science wiz and was one of her only friends until he made fun of her (indirectly) about her body weight. But that was before her new opportunity came: her next science project for her science class. After getting assigned a subject she didn't want, she later sees this as a chance to do a special science experiment...on herself. She wants to improve her diet, eating only natural and homemade foods and using almost no modern technology of any kind for 207 days (or seven months). This way, she claims, will not only improve her looks, but it will also let people know how wrecked their bodies are from eating so much junk food and artificial sweeteners and caffeine. But even the best experiments have it's potholes in life. Personal Review: I liked the book a whole lot! It was funny, romantic (at some parts), and dramatic (at some parts) all mixed in into one clever book. I like the parts where Cat's friend, Amanda, tries to get her to go on dates with boys SHE DOESN'T WANT TO GO OUT WITH and wear fancy clothes and put on makeup or ride in a car, but Catherine refuses every time (her friend makes her, anyway). Something always ends up wrong every time she goes out with a boy. It's funny to read! Recommendation: I would recommend this book for anyone who likes realistic fiction, who likes dramatic or slightly romantic books, funny books, or for anyone who is a vegetarian and can relate to what Cat is going through.
