Author: Jordan Sonnnenblick Book Color: Purple
Book Genre: Realistic Fiction Summary: San Lee is a normal, innocent teenage boy (more like an adopted, Chinese, sarcastic teenage boy) who has moved (again) to Pennsylvania and is trying to decide what he should be in the school, because the way he sees it, blending in won't get him noticed by Woody, the guitar-playing girl of his dreams. When San is partners with her for a social studies project and studies Zen for the topic, it soon becomes much more than a Social Studies project. In fact, he becomes so popular that people (and Woody) soon know him as "The Zen Master". But when things start to collapse, can San bind things together again before "The Zen Master" is no more? Personal Review: I really loved the book! It was one of the best I ever read. It's such a shame that San Lee is only a made-up book character because if he was real, I would demand to see him in person (Then again, I could say the same thing about Percy Jackson, but that's a whole different topic for a different time.)! It was both funny and, at some parts, just a little bit sad. Perfect book! Recommendation: I would recommend this book to anyone who likes realistic fiction, funny books, books about different cultures, or books about people trying to stand apart from a group of people.
