Because not only are Graham and Roxy friends, Graham has also developed a crush on Roxy. Can Graham get the girl in time for the Q&A? Or will this years Comic Con be a flop? Personal Review: This was a really great book. And believe me, it's a great book if I finish it in less that three days (which I did). This book was funny, yet it was a real page turner. And a plot twist happens to the end. If your up for it...be my guest! Also, this would be a great book for people who have actually been to the NYCC. No offence to anyone who has been to it when I say that I have no idea what the Comic Con looks like. Recommendation:I would recommend this book for people who like realistic fiction, funny, and slightly romantic books. This would also be a good read for people who have been to the NYCC, as they can probably relate to some of the stuff in here. There are also some references to Harry Potter and Zelda in this book, too. Click here to buy this book!

And while on crazy adventures like going to late-night parties and eating gelato like madmen, Lina realizes her summer will be anything but boring! Book Genre: Realistic/Modern Fiction Summary: Jasmine De Los Santos may be Filipino, but she's never really thought much about heritage or the fact her parents immigrated here a while ago. Practically the definition of a perfect child, she is the captain of the cheer team and a 4.0 student with straight A's. Her dream comes true when she receives a letter from the president saying that she is a National Scholar. But everything comes crashing down when Jasmine realizes the horrible truth about her family: their green cards expired years ago, and they have been living in secret as illegal aliens. They were never truly Americans. If one little mistake happens in their family, and that includes accepting the National Scholarship Award, they could be deported from the U.S and have to live back in the Philippines. Suddenly, Jasmine's life is flipped upside down. What was the whole point of working so hard for her dream only to have it stay a dream? Why was she working so hard for something she would never get? Personal Review: This book brings up a topic that is highly discussed in today's society. I've never really paid attention to politics a whole lot, but this book opened my eyes more and allowed me to understand both sides a little better. This was a really good book and I highly enjoyed it. Recommendation: I would definitely recommend this book for fiction lovers. This book takes a while to read, so this can also be for readers who don't mind a long book. This also has realistic-fiction and modern-day fiction mixed together, so this would be for people who like that combination or who would like to try that combination. Click here to buy this book! Book Genre: Nonfiction: Historical Summary: Richard and Mildred Loving are husband and wife, but their marriage is illegal in the 1950's and 60's, as Mildred is black and Richard is white. They must go through a series of trials and cases in order to live with each other freely in Virginia, and to prove their love is real. Personal Review: I really liked this book a lot, even if it was non-fiction! Richard and Mildred are some of the nicest people I've read about, and it's a shame that they had to go through jail, separate homes, and many trial cases in order to love freely. This really did happen. If you look them up, you will see that they made history. Recommendation: I would recommend this book for non-fiction readers, who like books with love intertwined in it, and who would like to learn more about the tough times during segregation for people of all ethnicities. Book Genre: Realistic Fiction Summary: It's an ordinary day in a high school chemistry class. Feeling bored, Lily scribbles down some of her favorite song lyrics on her desk. The next day, she finds out that someone wrote the next line of lyrics from that same song right under hers! Soon, she becomes attached to her secret pen pal. They write to each other every day, sticking notes under the desk. Even though her family life is crazy, and she enters a songwriting competition, Lily is trying to figure out who is writing to her every day. Is it Cade, the annoying boy that Lily despises? Is it Gabriel, the sweet, funny boy dating her best friend? Or is it Lucas, the trumpet-playing boy that Lily is slightly crushing on? This is one love mystery worth solving! Personal Review: I loved this book. It's perfect for this time of year: Valentines Day! It's a mystery inside a love story. You really feel Lily in this book: how she is torn between her love for her family and friends and her love for music. FIY: it's sort of a cliffhanger. Just warning you. Recommendation: I would recommend this book for people who like part-romance stories, who like mystery, who can handle some sad parts, and who like realistic fiction. This was a great book and I think many people will like it! Like the review? Click here to buy it! Author: Stacey Lee Book Color: Purple

Being one of the only two aromateurs left in the world, Mimosa works with her mother to tend the garden and use her extraordinary nose to make elixirs that help people fall in love. Book Genre: Historical Fiction Summary: Doug recently moved to where he calls "The Dump" in Upstate New York during the time of the Vietnam War and when Apollo space missions are making history in the science industry. He tries not to be the "skinny thug" everyone in his new school thinks he is, which leads him to more trouble. But along the way he meets Lil Spicer, who helps him get through life despite his abusive father and brother, and Mr. Powell, the local librarian who shows Doug how to draw realistic birds. Soon Doug opens up to more opportunities than ever, and he begins to realize that life isn't so bad after all. Personal Review: This also was an amazing book to read. Doug is such a funny, nice character, yet you really can see how hard it is to get through life and why he has to act tough. With his abusive father and brother, with his other brother scared for life after the Vietnam War, and the way his teachers treat him at school like he is a criminal, his only comforts are his mom, Lil, Mr. Powell, and drawing. This has lots of history tied to it as well, so this would be a good way to learn about history in the 1960's. Recommendation: I would recommend this people who like to learn about history and who like fiction tied with it, who can read hurtful moments and sad times, and who would like to learn a thing or two about art. Also, though this book has only a few chapters, they are long chapters, so be prepared for that, too. Click here to read more about this amazing book! Author: Michele Weber Hurwitz Book Color: Purple
Book Genre: Realistic Fiction Summary: It's the summer before high school, and Nina is kind of lost. Summers with her best friend Josie are the usual: being dragged to shopping malls, summer school, and Josie begging to do her nails constantly. But when one of her neighbors can't plant her marigolds because of a broken leg, Nina plants them for her. Suddenly, she realizes that by doing nice things for others, she can secretly change her neighborhood for the better. So she sets a goal: to secretly do 65 nice things for others in 65 days, or until school starts. Can she pull it off in time for high school? Or will she be discovered first? Personal Review: This book was amazing! It made me feel like it was summertime, even though it was cold out. Nina is a awkward teenager who wants to do nice things for others, and along the way she becomes more open to the rest of the world and learns about her neighbors in ways she never would have imagined. Her parents are lawyers, and they are away a lot, so they don't know and aren't suspicious of her...until the end of the book. But that's for me to know and for you to find out! Recommendation: I would recommend this for realistic fiction lovers, who can take on sad moments in a book, and who like some, but not a lot, of mystery in their books (Nina has to solve why one of her neighbors drives away at night but never comes out in the day, and who lives in the creepy house at the end of the street!). This was a great book, a nice mix of almost everything a book could have. Book sound interesting? Click here for Amazon's review. Author: Kiera Cass Book Colors: Purple, Purple.
Book Genre: Distopian Liturature. Summaries: The Heir: After hearing countless times about her parent's Selection, Eadlyn Schreve, oldest Schreve child and next in line to the throne, isn't sure that her Selection would be the fairy-tale kind her parents had. But soon after she meets the 35 gentlemen that will be competeing for her heart, Eadlyn realizes there's more to these boys than just their outward appearance. The Crown: When Eadlyn Schreve started this Selection, she wasn't planning on falling in love with any of the 35 suitors that had walked into the palace weeks before. But after a few weeks of competition, she realizes that love isn't as far away as she thought. And after her mother has a servere heart attack, Eadlyn must take matters into her own hands, manage the kingdom, and find her true love. Personal Review: I already loved The Selection series before I read these two books, so of course I really loved these as well! Eadlyn is a very neat teenager, and I think most people can relate to her in some way or another. The end sort of surprised me. You'll never guess who she picks at the end! Recommendation: I would definately recommend this book for anyone who had read The Selection series (or any of The Selection books) and loved it. I would also recommend this book for people who really love surprises (there are quite a few), and who like dystopian literature. If you had never read the first three books, this would still be a good read because it has new people and a new Selection, but I would prefer if you read the others before you read this! Loved America Singer's Selection? Click here and here for both of Eadlyn's stories! |
